**We are offering daily rentals at this time, with an additional $5 COVID disinfecting charge per item rented.**
New to our Cape Cod bike rental fleet for 2020 is the Electra Loft 7i. Offered in both men's and ladies frames, these 7 speed internally geared bikes are perfect for riding around town or on the Shining Sea Bikeway located here in Falmouth. With one shifter to operate, it takes all the guess work out of shifting. All of our bikes (with the exception of some kid's bikes) offer water bottle cages and rear racks with a trunk pack. The perfect size to hold your drinks, snacks or some of your beach gear.
All rentals include a bicycle lock, trunk bag, and a helmet free of charge.
Our standard rental bikes are rented on a first-come first-served basis. We have plenty of rental bikes available, so there is no need to make reservations. The only time we come close to renting out is around the 4th of July so if you're concerned about getting some bikes, show up early! Our doors open at 9:00am Sunday-Saturday during the summer months.
PARKING, PARKING, PARKING
We do have some parking available at our store for customers whose bike needs a small repair while they wait, tune-up drop offs or any merchandise sales. In the summer however, it does fill up quickly because we share it with the surrounding businesses. For people renting bikes, we ask that you park in the free lot just around the corner from our store at 81 Depot Avenue, Falmouth MA 02540, directly across the street from the Peter Pan Bus Station. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the shop at (508) 540-4195 during normal business hours and we'd be happy to assist you.
We're happy to answer certain questions about bicycle rentals. That said, we are not here to plan your vacations. It is extremely difficult to handle day to day operations in the summer while answering half an hours worth of questions about The Shining Sea Bikeway.
Here are a few answers to questions we often get:
It takes roughly half an hour to 45 minutes to get to Woods Hole from our store. EVERYONE rides at a different pace, particularly if you don't ride often, or you stop to take pictures, or stop at the beach or whatever. It could take someone and hour. It's different for everyone, maybe for sake of argument it takes an hour and if you're early then relax and enjoy.
Parking. As mentioned above. We've given you an address and that's where you should park while renting bikes. It is a 2-3 minute walk back to the store via a sidewalk that will bring you from the parking lot, directly across the street from the store. A good rule of thumb is to have someone drop everyone off at the store and then have someone drop off the car in the parking lot and walk back. You then follow the exact same route back to the bike trail with the bikes. This way saves time, confusion and allows you to be on your way as soon as possible.
Tandems. Tandems are a great idea if BOTH parties know how to ride a bike and have ridden them previously. July 4th at 10 a.m. is not a good time to decide that today is the day you want to try a tandem for the first time. They are not recommended for someone who knows how to ride a bike and someone who's never ridden a bike before. In fact, it can be quite dangerous. It takes good communication and a good sense of balance to ride them. They require a taller adult rider in the front and can accommodate a smaller adult rider in the back. Unless your child is a great cyclist we would suggest your child rides their own rental bike or a tag-a-long attached to one of our rentals.
We do rent trailers and tag-a-longs. Trailers can be rented by themselves and go on your own bike if you brought one provided your bike does not have disc brakes. They can be folded pretty flat for transport if you need to put it in your car. Tag-a-longs have to be rented with one of our adult rental bikes. The ones we rent require a specific type of rack for them to attach to a bicycle. We have a large number of adult rentals available with these racks on them to make the rental process fairly simple.

Bicycle riding is fun but getting hurt isn't. To that end, please be careful and wear a helmet when riding. These bicycles are not equipped for night riding. If you have any problems please call us at (508) 540-4195. If your bicycle becomes inoperable we will deliver another to you. We cannot provide service to the Islands.
Massachusetts law requires children 16 and under to wear helmets. Helmets are provided free with all rentals. We encourage all renters, regardless of age to wear a helmet, we have excellent helmets from Bontrager with our rentals. Minimum age for passengers in a trailer is 1 year, your child must wear a helmet in the trailer and the must be capable of holding their head up with the helmet.
We are located 1/10th of a mile from the Shining Sea Bikeway near the 3.5 mile point, one of the most scenic bike paths around. In less than 2 miles from our store you'll be at the beach, another 2 miles and you'll be in Woods Hole, this is a perfect way to spend a day on the Cape.
Burley Piccolo "Tag Along" requires the use of our bike due to the nature of the attachment system, we don't have tag alongs to attach to your bike.
We rent Burley trailers for carrying children. We DO NOT rent baby seat equipped bikes, studies have shown trailers to be safer, plus they have tons of storage space for kids stuff.
Our standard adult rental bike is an Electra Loft 7i which is perfect for trips around the Falmouth area.
We offer children's bikes from Trek and Electra in sizes 16" to 27.5" which will fit kids 5 to 13 years old, the Burley Piccolo "tag along" works great for kids 4+ who can't ride without training wheels.
We don't take reservations on rentals, we've expanded our rental fleet again for 2019 so we shouldn't have many days in which we're rented out.
We also offer road bikes in addition to our standard rental bike offering. We have 2018 Men's and Women's Trek Domane SL 5 road bikes in Falmouth and 2014 Trek Domane 2.3 and Trek Lexa SLX road bikes in Osterville. Cost and information regarding performance rentals can be found on our performance rentals page.
