bike trail extension updates
The Shining Sea bike trail is soon to be extended from the terminus at Carlson Lane to Old County Road in North Falmouth. We'll try to keep this updated with information regarding the progress.
Progress to date:
Fiscal year 2004 one time tax for funding planning and feasibility.
Fall 2005 Presentation of the funding check at Carlson Lane with Senator Ted Kennedy, Representatives Matt Patrick and Eric Turkington, members of the board of Selectmen, the Town Administrator, members of the Bikeway Committee, and members of the general public.
December 18,2005 Pre 25% plan completion meeting with abutters to the proposed trail extension.
May 23,2006 25% Plan meeting at the Gus Canty Recreation Center at 7:00 pm.
Bid requests to be sent out October 2006.
Scheduled start date January 2007.
Scheduled completion date July 2008.
March 2008 Well the trail is moving ahead the bid went out and Lawrence Lynch of Falmouth won the bid. The rails are in the process of being removed (April 2008), it looks like sometime in June the construction will actually take place. It's been a long time coming, it should be wonderful when it's completed.
